  • "I've been in a virtual group....."

led by Jennifer Hershon for 3+ years. The common thread of this group is the heartache associated with the estrangement from an adult child. Jennifer’s dependable bi-weekly presence is calming and encouraging. She is a wonderful leader who gently keeps us focused on our topic of discussion and graciously welcomes each of us to contribute. She is an empathetic listener who offers helpful advice and/or suggestions that can guide each of us to a place of more resilience. Since she’s a good listener, her interest and understanding of each of our situations makes her insights invaluable. She’s quick-witted, and gracious with her honest words. I admire that Jennifer has done all the work to obtain seven globally recognized credentials to help more people who are walking through this grief associated with ambiguous loss. • "I am so thankful for her help..."

Jennifer is the moderator of our support group for parents of estranged adult children. She reliably guides our group every other week with compassion, wisdom and focus. Jennifer ensures that every group member has time to share and that follow up is constructive. Jennifer researches topics around estrangement and connects us with helpful podcasts, authors, webinars and articles.

Estrangement creates many negative feelings that are difficult to deal with such as failure, shame, embarrassment, and rejection. Prior to joining the support group I was struggling with estrangement and spent a lot of time ruminating and suffering. Through Jennifer's leadership and the atmosphere she developed and maintains in our group I have grown from a grieving person into a resilient and compassionate person overcoming ambiguous loss. I am so thankful for her help! MH

  • Jennifer was skilled at providing

clear guidance. I know Jennifer through my involvement in an online Estranged Parents Support Group for which she was one of the meeting facilitators. In her role as facilitator, she conveyed empathy and effective listening skills. She facilitated a positive environment, so the members of the group felt safe to share openly. She demonstrated the ability to balance her involvement during the meeting, so the members were allowed to support one another and offered input when it was needed. She was skilled at providing clear guidance with deep insight for members seeking advice. Her experience of family estrangement and the work she has done to manage the pain around it is evident. Her personal background contributes, in a valuable way, to her ability to provide support for family members who are going through the nightmare of estrangement. KM
